Position: Firmware Test Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated Firmware Test Engineer to join our Product Engineering/Scrum team. In this role, you will work closely with firmware and application developers to ensure high-quality product deliveries through effective verification, validation, and automation testing. The position offers hands-on exposure to both device-level testing and application testing, along with opportunities to build and enhance test automation frameworks based on project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and design effective test strategies

Create, review, and maintain detailed test cases and test plans

Develop and execute automation scripts for new features and enhancements

Perform functional, regression, and system-level testing

Participate in peer reviews to ensure test coverage and quality standards

Provide regular progress updates to the project manager or team lead

Support internal and external quality audits when required

Follow Emerson’s global standards, engineering practices, and compliance guidelines

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is someone who:

Is proactive, energetic, and eager to take on technical challenges

Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Applies structured thinking to identify root causes and uncover hidden issues

Demonstrates a high level of technical competence and ownership

Required Qualifications & Skills

1–3 years of experience in firmware or software testing

Basic to intermediate proficiency in at least one programming language such as C, C++, C#, or Python

Strong fundamentals in engineering concepts and testing methodologies

Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and systems such as Modbus, DNP3, PLC, RTU, or SCADA is a plus

Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, or Instrumentation Engineering

Good written and verbal communication skills

Added Advantage:

Experience with NI TestStand or similar test automation too
