Role Overview

As a Back-end Developer Intern, you will be part of the z Hardware / z/OS Product Engineering Support team, contributing to the development of productivity tools and infrastructure solutions that enhance IBM’s mainframe ecosystem. This role offers hands-on exposure to enterprise-scale systems and the opportunity to understand real customer expectations from IBM’s most powerful platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Support the design and development of productivity tools for z/OS and mainframe infrastructure

Assist in building and executing automation and support utilities

Apply programming and debugging skills to solve technical challenges

Collaborate with engineering and support teams to improve serviceability

Gain practical exposure to IBM mainframe architecture and enterprise support environments

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Computer Engineering preferred)

Strong interest in pursuing a career in software or systems engineering

Fundamental knowledge of software design, testing, and debugging

Understanding of computer architecture concepts

Programming knowledge in C, C++, Java, or Assembly

Scripting experience using Python, JavaScript, Perl, Bash, or similar

Good communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills

Basic knowledge of Mainframe systems

Understanding of Computer Networking

Exposure to web or mobile application development

Familiarity with development tools such as Git/GitHub, IntelliJ, or similar IDEs
