Program Overview

Google is pleased to offer the Associate Software Developer Internship – 2026, designed for second-year engineering students pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline. This immersive summer program provides hands-on software development experience while working alongside experienced Googlers on real-world projects.

Internship Experience

As an Associate Software Developer Intern, you will:

Work on a development project as part of a collaborative engineering team

Strengthen your coding and problem-solving skills using industry-standard tools and programming languages

Learn from technical talks and sessions led by senior Google engineers and leaders

Be paired with a Google Engineer mentor to guide your learning and growth

Participate in networking, community-building, and social activities throughout the program

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to software development tasks aligned with your assigned project

Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code

Collaborate with team members to design, implement, and test features

Learn and apply best practices in software engineering

Note: Specific responsibilities will vary based on the project and team assignment.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science or a related technical field

Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language

Ability to communicate fluently in English for technical discussions

Preferred Qualifications

Enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to studies after the internship

Availability to complete a full-time, 10–12 week internship between May and August 2026

Strong programming skills in C++, Java, or Python
