Role Overview

As a Software Engineer I, you will contribute to the development and support of enterprise-grade software applications that power Mastercard’s global payment platforms. This role focuses on hands-on development, problem-solving, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, test, implement, and maintain application software in alignment with Mastercard’s engineering standards and best practices

Design and build scalable applications, SDKs, testing frameworks, and development tools for payment platforms

Translate technical requirements and design documents into high-quality, secure software solutions

Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to deliver new features efficiently

Evaluate and recommend modern technologies, frameworks, and tools to improve development productivity

Conduct feasibility analysis, system flow design, and cost/time estimations for proposed solutions

Support production systems, participate in incident management, and contribute to on-call support rotations

Maintain accurate technical documentation following established SDLC and QA/QC processes

Assist senior engineers in refining documentation standards and development templates

Contribute ideas to improve engineering processes, quality standards, and operational efficiency

Track, collect, and report project and software development metrics

Required Experience & Knowledge

6 months to 1.5 years of professional experience in software development

Strong programming and problem-solving skills

Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA)

Good knowledge of software engineering principles, methodologies, and development lifecycles

Ability to apply engineering concepts to real-world business problems

Skills & Competencies

Highly motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure

Strong analytical and logical thinking capabilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to collaborate effectively in a matrix-based, globally distributed team environment
