About the Role
MSCI is seeking a Data Engineer to join our innovative data team in Pune. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for fresh graduates to launch their careers in a global financial technology organization. You will work on designing, building, and optimizing data infrastructure, collaborating across teams to support data-driven decision-making.

If you are passionate about working with large datasets, have a knack for solving complex problems, and are eager to work with modern data tools like Databricks, PySpark, and cloud technologies, then this role is for you.

Team Responsibilities
Design and implement efficient ETL/ELT pipelines using PySpark and Databricks.

Optimize data workflows for scalability and performance using best practices such as indexing, partitioning, and Spark tuning.

Work closely with product, engineering, and business teams to gather requirements and resolve technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities
Ensure data integrity and consistency by implementing effective data validation and cleansing methods.

Refactor and enhance existing SQL procedures, queries, and functions for improved efficiency.

Build and manage stored procedures, functions, views, and other database components.

Participate in data migration and modernization projects, particularly those involving Delta Lake or data warehouses.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues in data pipelines, ensuring minimal downtime and high availability.

Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Strong proficiency in Python, PySpark, and SQL.

Solid understanding of distributed data processing platforms, especially Databricks and BigQuery.

Experience or knowledge in optimizing large-scale datasets.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail.

Basic familiarity with cloud services such as Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
Hands-on exposure to data migration tools and techniques.

Understanding of Delta Lake architecture or modern data lake/data warehouse technologies.
