🔍 About the Role
Red Hat is looking for a passionate and driven Associate Software Engineer to join the Performance and Scale Team working on Chaos Engineering for Red Hat OpenShift. You’ll be part of a global initiative focused on making cloud-native applications more resilient, scalable, and reliable. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on cutting-edge reliability testing, automation, and AI-driven tooling in a collaborative open-source environment.

🔧 Key Responsibilities
Design test strategies for chaos testing, performance benchmarking, and system resilience under various failure conditions (e.g., network/storage faults, infrastructure crashes).

Develop automated tools for fault injection, load simulation, and CI integration.

Collaborate with engineering and open-source community teams to resolve resilience and performance bottlenecks.

Conduct AI-driven test coverage analysis to optimize automation strategies.

Help in capacity planning and create guidance for robust system performance.

Analyze test data, triage issues, and provide actionable insights and solutions.

Share findings through reports, internal documentation, and external blog posts/presentations.

Engage in open-source communities and potentially speak at conferences to showcase your work.

🧠 Skills & Experience You’ll Bring
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field

Strong interest or experience in chaos engineering, system reliability, or performance testing

Familiarity with Linux system administration

Proficiency in scripting/programming: Bash, Python, Go, or Ansible

Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, Azure, or IBM Cloud

Hands-on with containerization tools like Docker or Podman

Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Airflow, Prow, etc.)

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

⭐ Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
Knowledge of Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift

Experience with monitoring and dashboarding tools like Prometheus and Grafana

Interest in or experience with Go programming

Exposure to AI/ML techniques to improve test automation

Public speaking or blogging experience
