About the Role

As an Analyst, Application Engineer at BlackRock, you will be part of the Strategic Initiatives team within Outsource Platform Services, focused on building scalable technology solutions and reimagining middle-office outsourcing platforms. This role blends strong engineering fundamentals with modern technologies, AI-driven innovation, and close collaboration across global teams.

You will contribute to the development of enterprise-grade solutions that power the Aladdin ecosystem, supporting both internal teams and more than 20 global client organizations.

Business Overview

The Strategic Initiatives team acts as a technology and innovation engine, driving platform scalability, process optimization, and AI adoption across BlackRock’s middle-office services. The team works at the intersection of data, automation, and advanced engineering, ensuring alignment between business goals and cutting-edge technology.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and deliver scalable software solutions, including AI-enabled models

Develop applications supporting BlackRock and external clients using the Aladdin platform

Work with modern technologies such as AI/ML, Java, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Cassandra, and open-source frameworks

Collaborate in an Agile development environment, focusing on incremental and test-driven development

Translate business ideas and creative concepts into functional prototypes and production-ready solutions

Partner with users, designers, developers, and product managers to deliver impactful outcomes

Understand business workflows and co-create innovative, data-driven solutions

Solve complex technical problems in a fast-evolving environment

Promote collaboration, transparency, and knowledge sharing across distributed teams

Contribute to open-source initiatives and stay current with emerging technologies

Skills & Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, or a related field

1+ year of experience in Python or Core Java (Spring Framework)

Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns

Experience with DevOps tools such as Git, Maven, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps

Familiarity with Agile methodologies and development tools

Strong communication and presentation skills

Ability to take ownership of deliverables and perform under tight timelines

Experience collaborating with global and cross-functional teams
