About the Role

BlackLine is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and optimization of our cloud-based backend services. In this role, you will be instrumental in enhancing product performance, scalability, and innovation. You will collaborate across teams, write elegant and efficient code, mentor junior engineers, and play a key role in delivering high-quality software solutions that drive customer success.
As part of our engineering team, you will research and evaluate new technologies, optimize existing features, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to architectural decisions to enhance system efficiency. Your expertise in software development, combined with a proactive and problem-solving mindset, will be crucial in ensuring the success of BlackLine’s solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize cloud-based backend services to ensure performance and scalability.

Troubleshoot, debug, and maintain software applications, ensuring high availability and efficiency.

Develop functional and technical specifications, test plans, and system documentation.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and implement new features.

Ensure coding standards, best practices, and security protocols are followed across the development lifecycle.

Address and resolve scalability and performance challenges in cloud-based applications.

Participate in code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and fostering a culture of technical excellence.

Engage in continuous integration, deployment, and automation best practices.

Contribute to architectural improvements and develop robust solutions for complex design challenges.

Provide support for deployment, maintenance, and critical release activities, including occasional off-hours support.

Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum 3+ years of experience in software development.

BE/BTech in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (BS in EE or CS is a plus).

Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, ORMs, and RDBMS.

Experience with modern database platforms (PostgreSQL preferred), including data modeling, schema design, and performance tuning.

Knowledge of Build, Deployment, and Continuous Integration (CI/CD) processes.

Hands-on experience with SaaS-based, N-Tier web applications in cloud environments.

Proven ability to address scalability challenges and optimize system performance.

Understanding of QA standards and automation testing best practices.

Experience with Agile methodologies, Scrum processes, and DevOps practices.

Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work collaboratively, and passion for engineering excellence.
