Role Overview

Optum is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to join its technology team and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-grade automation solutions. In this role, you will work on Robotic Process Automation (RPA) initiatives and custom-built applications that support business efficiency and healthcare operations at scale.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing automation and software solutions that directly impact healthcare delivery and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy automation workflows using industry-standard RPA tools

Build and maintain applications using VB.NET, C#, and Python

Develop, optimize, and manage SQL Server databases, including queries, stored procedures, and schema design

Integrate applications with enterprise systems using RESTful and SOAP APIs

Ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and performance benchmarks

Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues across automation pipelines and application environments

Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirement analysis to deployment and support

Adapt to evolving business requirements, including team assignments, work shifts, and process changes

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in software development

4+ years of hands-on experience in the following technical areas:

SQL Server development and database management

RPA tools such as UiPath, Power Automate, or Automation Anywhere

Programming with VB.NET, C#, and Python

Strong understanding of software engineering principles and SDLC best practices

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline

Experience working in Agile or Scrum-based development environments

Familiarity with project tracking and collaboration tools
