Description for Software Engineer

Ciena is actively seeking Software Engineers to join their team. As part of the development team, the Software Engineers will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and supporting software for various NMS/EMS layers, focusing on network elements like DWDM, Optical Switches, and Multi-Service edge products.

Key Responsibilities:

- Coordinate/support release/design lead for successful release/features delivery.

- Implement code according to design, ensuring adherence to project timelines.

- Ensure compliance with organization-wide conventions and procedures (architecture, code review, etc.).

- Provide inputs in detailed design.

- Develop and execute unit test cases.

- Support technical leadership in defect resolution.

Skills:

- Strong analysis, coding, testing, and documentation skills.

- Proficient in Object-Oriented Concepts, data structures, algorithms.

- Knowledge of Operating system concepts and Networking Concepts.

- Hands-on experience in one or more of the following: C/C++, Java/JavaScript, Python, JavaScript/HTML/CSS/JQuery, Scala (Academic project experience in any of these areas is a plus).

Desired Characteristics/Skills:

- Exposure to micro-service architecture using Docker and Git configuration management is a bonus.

- Exposure to the Linux/Unix environment is an added advantage.

- Good verbal and written communication skills.

- Independent self-starter committed to delivering within timelines.

- Comfortable working in a team environment.

Education:

- Currently pursuing MCA or B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
