About Morningstar:
Morningstar is seeking an Intern to design, implement, and maintain the systems powering statistical software applications and data products. This role involves significant interaction with stakeholders across various departments, including Technology, Data, Products, Sales/Service, and Research. The Intern will collaborate closely with developers and analysts to create reliable and fast software solutions.

Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain systems supporting quantitative research projects.
- Collaborate with developers and analysts to ensure data needs are met for research projects and applications.
- Automate workflows for data extraction, transformation, and loading using Python packages like Pandas, numpy, and Matplotlib.
- Analyze database performance issues and assist with performance tuning.
- Ensure the quality of technical and application architecture and design of systems across the organization.
- Research and benchmark technology against other best-in-class technologies.
- Experience in Banking, Financial, and Fintech in an enterprise environment is preferred.
- Follow best coding, security, unit testing, and documentation standards and practices.
- Experience with Agile software engineering practices.

Requirements:
- 0-1 year of experience in designing and managing large-scale database systems.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python is a must, with extensive coding experience in Python (3.6 and above).
- BS degree in engineering or computer science.
- Working knowledge of AWS Data Engineering tools like Athena, Glue, EMR, DynamoDB is preferred.
- Exposure to Agile software engineering practices.
